Off to a good start

Happy New Year!

We got off to a pretty decent start to 2012. Even though I slept until 9:30 (thank you Paco!!) we still managed to reorganize the whole under stair storage closet, go through the 'baby' toys that are just too young for Edison, and photograph and box up the exersaucer to go ahead and sell. ALL BY NOON. I sat in a pile of other toys trying to figure out where they were going to be housed and decided to reorganize all of the gift bags I have. Just an FYI, I have enough for 25 friends to have babies. So yeah, go ahead and get on that friends...

Paco went in to work for a short bit and I tried to clean more. Eh. Nothing special here really. Last night since we didn't have anyone to watch the kids we just hung out here with a friend until she had to leave at 10 and then we just watched tv. Sadly we watched this show on animal planet called Too Cute. It was definitely a show on kittens from birth to something like 2 months. yeah. we are that awesome. For the probably 3rd time in the 10 years we have been together I actually got a kiss at midnight. You read right: three, maybe four, new years kisses.. Paco doesn't have the best track record for that tradition. On a more exciting note I used the food saver I got for Christmas from my dad. I need to figure out how to successfully vacuum the bone-in chicken I have without having a bone puncture the plastic on suction though. Instead I just removed the bones and vacuumed the freshly boneless chicken. Can't let those bones go to waste now can we? I got 3/4 of a gallon of chicken stock from those guys. We had the most deliciously wonderful homemade chicken and dumpling (my version anyway..) soup. I am a domestic goddess. I would share the recipe.... but there isn't one! so, recipe: take chicken bones. cover with water add a crap ton of salt, but not too much. boil 2-3 hours. remove bones. add onion, celery, carrot, chicken cut from bone, and homemade dumplings or noodles. serve. yep. It is tedious in that you have to cut the chicken off all the bone and make the noodles, but it really isn't that hard and it is so delicious.

Anyway, enough about my awesome soup. I am really going to try to get back to using loseit.com for tracking calories. It worked before, it should work again. I am happy to say that before I went to Snap I was 384 calories under budget. woo! Add back in the calories from walking/jogging on the treadmill and I could have practically a whole extra meal. But I wont. Kind of counter productive. Besides, I am way too full still from the soup! I think Snap fitness will work out well for me. It is only 1.5 miles away, if that, and when from 8:30-9pm when I got there I was the only person there. In the next half hour only 3 other people came. I only did the treadmill tonight, but I will probably move on the the arc trainers and weight machines once I get back into the routine and have built up some kind of resistance to actually working out again. I am floored at how quickly you can get out of shape.

Here's to starting the new year off right. Now to keep the momentum...
