What is this ridiculous looking piece of metal you ask? It is a photo enlarger for 4x5 film negatives. For a dark room. Which we do not have. It is, however, also worth $2,500.00. And yes, I will repeat, he got if for FREE. We went to Iowa City last Sunday to get my new shoes to go to the gym and since we were there we just had to go to University Camera. Paco loves any and all camera stores because he can drool over things [that really we cant afford]. On this particular Sunday there was a sign on the door that said to inquire within about a 4x5 enlarger. He did without even having noticed that the sign already said free. Since there was a basketball game that day that had just gotten over there were virtually no parking spaces so I was in the car with the kids driving around waiting for him to be done. He called and was very excited about it so how could I possibly say no? I pulled into the loading zone and he and the store clerk managed to get into the van. Oh and by the way, here is a little comparison for you:
It is definitely taller than our 4 year old. Did I mention we don't have a dark room or a 4x5 film camera? We need a bigger house so Paco can have a real darkroom and I can have my sewing/craft room.

My mom has one of those in her basement...along with the contents for a full darkroom, but she is in the same boat as Paco. No darkroom. :-)
