I dont ask for much...

... but every once in a while I would love to be able to take care of some normal necessities without trouble. For instance, being able to buy groceries guilt free is a dream of mine. I can't wait for the day this becomes a reality.

I also just wanted to do one simple thing this spring: build a very modest new deck to replace the one that is falling apart. Very literally falling apart. As I posted before, the rails are barely attached, one set of steps are broken, and several boards are bouncy and about to fall through (and one is stapled from having splintered before we owned the house). After looking at some finances it would appear this dream will not happen, not this summer anyway. Cedar Rapids SUCKS and raised property taxes AGAIN so we are short $250 in escrow to cover this. Therefore our next house payment is $250 higher than normal. Then for the next year the payments go up $20 a month. Add this to the extra expense I had today to get Bailey checked and antibiotics for her tooth I just don't see how a new deck is at all feasible. I just wanted a nice modest, considerably smaller, deck just to accommodate the two back doors. It may have been if we could get a good deal on the lumber. But we need to pay for a permit, a dumpster for old deck disposal, and all the other extras that go into a new one. Not to mention the expense that would arise from the crack in the foundation that needs to be repaired.

Hopefully we don't get too many splinters or fall through, or fall over a rail this summer. sigh. Maybe next year, if we're lucky.
