I'm still here...

The past few weeks I have just been so busy I haven't even been on the computer for more than 10 minutes a couple times a day. This is the first time I've really been on all weekend. I think that is a huge first for me.

The main reason for the lack of time is that I have been spending more time over at my moms. She hurt her knee a while back and then the Saturday before Easter she threw it out or stepped funny to REALLY hurt it. She has been quasi out of commission ever since. I have taken her to the ER in town and the ER at university of Iowa to try and figure out what is wrong. Turns out she has a meniscal tear in her knee cartilage. The only way to fix it is to have surgery. This cannot be scheduled until September apparently. It is going to be a long summer. As it is I have gone over every night to do her dishes, help out with making dinner and whatnot and I am the chauffeur as needed since she cannot drive at all. Oy. I'm not really complaining. I mean, look at what she has done for me. She was taking me to and from the hospital all the time for 10 weeks when Edison was in the NICU. She is the only person who has ever watched Lilly, I don't even have a backup babysitter. It is the least I could do. It is just daunting since I have two children in tow all the time while doing it. My house work has suffered because I take care of not only Lilly and Edison, but now mom. Oh well.. a messy house is  a happy and loved house.. kindof. That doesn't make sense. Oh well, it's what you get :)

In other news, boy I don't even know what is other news since I haven't posted for so long. I finally finished a couple of the sewing projects I was working on. I have way too many yet to do, but at least I got these done since they are a gift. After I give them I will post pictures of my "handy" work. I really, REALLY need some sewing lessons. The machine is amazing since I got it cleaned and oiled, but now I am running into operator error. sigh. Hopefully I can find some kind of time to at least get the valance and crib skirt for Edison's room done.

Today I helped at moms house with some chores and also got to do some garden shopping. I have a love/hate relationship with the garden shopping. There are a lot of things I want but they are either expensive or I haven't a clue where to put them. I am trying to remedy the hodge podge nature of my yard layout so buying random plants because I like them wont help the situation. I did buy all of my garden plants except one more thing (I DON'T KNOW WHAT SO SEND IDEAS PLEASE!!!). So far I have tomatoes, peppers, jalapenos, and cucumber. I need to buy basil still. I thought about acorn squash but worry about the space it will take up. I also thought about sweet potato, but same thing with the space. I really only have about 2'x2' to work with which doesn't go far for a lot of garden plants. I could do carrots or green beans but I can get those from fareway that are grown locally and cheap so I have a hard time taking the space in my garden. I also thought about a lettuce head.. I just don't know!!! Anyway, I also got dirt. lots of dirt and I still need more. We are FINALLY going to have grass where the tree stump has been. That has taken 4 years but we will truly finally have the space filled. yay! I got an Asiatic Lily to go with Lilly's Lily garden, two Shasta daisy's and a carnation (which I found out will have to go somewhere else in the yard because the original space just doesn't get enough afternoon sun), and some marigolds that Mark got for Lilly. I don't know where those will go either. I want to dig out about a 20' space in the corner of the yard next to the veggie garden and under the cherry tree to do a cutting garden. It is a crappy area for Paco to have to mow and it gets lots of sun that I could do some great sun loving plants. I'll see how far I get with that project. I don't have a good tool to use besides a shovel to dig it out so maybe I'll lose 20 pounds in the process! Mulch and plants are so expensive that I just don't know. I think it would look great though. Especially since the center of the yard will have the grass instead of stump. OH, I also finally dug out the other clothesline post that has been in the yard since we moved in. I want to transplant it to the other side of the yard so I can line dry my laundry this summer instead of using the dryer. How fantastic will that be?!? I will save energy, save money, AND have awesomely fresh line dried clothes!

I have been working like a mad woman the past few days to price all of Lilly's clothes for our play date garage sale June 1-2. Now see, I am a little OCD so when I say price.. I mean I am sorting by size, pricing, and writing down each item in a notebook which will then be transferred to an excel sheet to keep track of everything I am putting in the sale. yea.. OCD, don't judge me. I got the clothes done, now I need to find tons of other crap to de-clutter and get rid of my mess and find some space in this house again.

Anyway I have more to do here and just rest the finish up my Mothers Day so hopefully I will have time to blog more sooner than later!
