Edison just had his last visit from the Visiting nurses association for his Synagis shot to prevent RSV. They have to strip him down to nothing and weigh him each time so they know the proper dosage to administer. Feb. 7th he was 10 pounds 6 ounces. Today, drumroll… 11 pounds 10 ounces. woo hoo! Even though we are hard pressed to get more than 2.5 ounces in the kid at a time he is actually gaining weight. who knew!?! This was right after a poop too! It will be interesting to see what he weighs tomorrow at his 6 month well child exam.
I had thought of trying to get him in today because he just hasn’t acted himself as of late. He is a happy little boy but a few days this week I have bee at the point of pulling my hair out because he has just cried and cried and cried. He is way too old for colic obviously. I think it is either an ear infection although he doesn’t really exhibit any other signs for that or reflux. One of my sorority sisters and member of the preemie babe club, Panda, told me that her little guy has reflux and described the symptoms of that. They are the exact same things Edison has been doing since the week after we brought him home! Definitely lots to discuss tomorrow at the doc.
I am also almost certain E will start some physical therapy since he doesn’t hold his head perfectly yet and is no where near sitting up. SO out with the visiting nurses for injections and in with the PT visiting nurses I guess. We are pretty lucky to have the option and availability for them to come to us like that though. I cant wait to get out of the house a bit but it is nice to not have to drag both kids somewhere and make Lilly sit and be good long enough to do the PT. We shall see I guess.
