I have already slowed in my blog postings. This makes for longer posts. For this, I apologize!
It was a pretty busy week, but nothing of much importance really happened so I will save you all (whoever all may be) the details. This weekend was pretty busy too!! We went to Jesup bright and early on Saturday for Farmer's Day. It is just like any other small town carnival complete with beer tent, carny rides, and small town charm like folk dancers and a town play. I love it. We frequently went growing up and it was a great time! Of course I would want to take Lilly to experience it. She loved the parade and behaved EXTREMELY well. She just sat or stood there! Plus, since she is so darn adorable (and a kid..) we made out like bandits with the candy. I really don't even like candy, but my mom throws it in a dish for her clients at work. Lilly had her first sucker too! Needless to say, Lilly does like candy. After the parade we got some food from the scout stand and Lions Club and then went searching for the best kiddie ride for Lilly. At $3 a ride, we only opted for one of them. (I remember when tickets were $.25 each or 5 for $1, none of this $1 each or 20 for $15 crap!) Anyway... we chose the train that went in a circle. She cried at first. Then sat and thought about it. By the time she was done with the first loop she had the biggest grin that all the other parents were smiling and laughing at. It was a hoot! I will post pictures of that later. Okay, so it was worth the $3...
Today was spent doing all those fun chores you would really rather avoid. In the morning mom came over to watch Lilly while Paco and I worked on hacking away at the remains of the hedges so we can put a fence in. We also worked on getting charcoal going and burning out the tree stump that is in the middle of the yard. It is still going well! Smoke is still coming out of the holes so it is still burning out! As long as there is no rain in the forecast it will burn for a while and hopefully get rid of the majority of it. I will be so happy when the hedges are done, the fence is in, the stump is gone, the clothesline is moved, and the play set (that we are getting from the neighbors who are moving) is in. Long list... but hopefully it will all happen yet this summer! I have smelled like a bonfire all day too I'd like to add. So after all that yard work Paco and my brother went to the RC air show in Iowa City. Lilly took her nap so mom left and I was home alone. I watched Rookie of the Year (ahh memories..) and then decided to be productive. I swept and mopped the kitchen, did laundry, folded laundry, put away laundry, cleaned the bedroom a bit, and some other miscellaneous tasks. Whew! At least I can feel productive.
So Lilly seems the be regressing in some weird way. As previously mentioned we took away her bottles. YAY! We have had a bottle-free week! The thing is she was one grumpy little girl most of the week so we decided to try something different. Still no bottles, but I got a pacifier to use ONLY at bedtime and naps. (I can see and hear my uncle.. who is a dentist... cringing). yeah yeah yeah... I know, horrible! But she was PISSED OFF at the littlest things. She doesn't use it during the day and I do think it calms her down better. She still doesn't like the word "bedtime" though. And hey, it is an orthodontic pacifier (again, uncle cringes and shakes his head). It wont last after the age of 2 but for now it gives mommy a little more peace. I think it has worked as far as her mood is concerned and I don't think she uses it for long or expects it.
oh I forgot to mention I finally got a nice healthy burn. I know that is a bit of an oxymoron, but I don't tan unless I burn. Okay, again I shouldn't want either of these things. I look thinner and healthier in general with a nice tan though, so bring on the burn! If only I could get rid of the stark white tan lines...
Well I am sure that was a boring enough recap for now so until later. ciao! oh, and yes I will get back to the ending with quotes, I need to find them after cleaning the office. argh. here, how about one of the top of my head...
