Maple trees. They are truly useless in Iowa. If we are not going to farm maple syrup, then what's the point? (is this what you call collecting it??) I went out to check on my garden and all of those helicopters that had been scattered over the past couple of weeks decided to take root. I know I still have more out there to pull, but I just didn't want to bother. I am sure we'll have several popping up around the yard too. Anyone want a maple tree? let me know, I can give you 50!
The garden does seem to be doing quite well! One tomato seems to be a later bloomer than the other 3 I got, but it is also a different variety so that plays a part. It has plenty of time to catch up! It also looked like the lettuce seeds I planted are starting to germinate. hooray for fresh garden lettuce! This is my very first attempt at it, so we'll see what happens. I still have plenty of seeds since you can do multiple crops of them, but once the 4 are done that I have out there I am going to plant some green beans instead. I'm way pumped for the broccoli I planted too. Broccoli is way too expensive at the store so I cant wait to try my very own home grown! Also I intend to can salsa, tomatoes, and spaghetti sauce for winter. I should save a ton of money this way! I should buy an oregano plant, but otherwise I have everything else I need for the sauce. I also have everything I need in in garden for the salsa. Now I am just waiting for the cutting flowers seeds I planted to start growing. I also planted some gladiolas bulbs. I still have several I need to find a place for!
I need to sit down and figure out a good way to get some hosts for Tastefully Simple parties, both taste testing and catalog. I LOVE doing the taste testing parties and they usually go pretty well. June and July have AWESOME host specials going on (in addition to the already pretty cool incentives they offer). So there really is no reason for me not to book at least a few parties. I just don't know who to ask. For whatever reason I have never gotten any bookings off of the parties no matter how many times I throw the notion out there. I drastically need the income that this generates. So for the whopping 5 people that probably read this.. if you want to earn some tasty gourmet food for free by having a party, let me know. It doesn't matter where you are!
I would also like to mention, again, that I am still ITCHY. This whole drug allergy rash business is the WORST. last night I resorted to putting Vick's on it. Surprisingly this worked the best of anything I have tried. It was a fabulous cooling sensation. I probably shouldn't be putting Vicks on a rash though. I can see that causing some issues too. I miss being the epitome of health (short of being a bit pudgy).
I think I hear Lilly waking up from her nap. She was ever so thoughtful as to dump Baileys water dish out earlier after playing in it. Water. everywhere. at least the kitchen is the one room that isnt carpeted in our house! She did, however, find my water cup on the night stand and also dumped that out. Not so lucky there in that she spilled that all over the hallway. But, it's water so nothing to fuss over! She has been in a very good mood all day though, this is probably because she has been playing in water.
